The CERISE outputs, aim at medium to long-term upgrades of the C3S systems with targeted progressive implementation in the next three years and beyond. CERISE will improve the quality and consistency of the C3S reanalysis and multi-system seasonal prediction, directly addressing the evolving user needs for improved and more consistent C3S Earth system.

The CORSO project directly contributes to the implementation of the new European anthropogenic CO₂ emissions Monitoring and Verification Support capacity (CO2MVS) in the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS).

Cyber preparedness and resilience of the energy sector in the Nordic region

Under a delegation agreement by the European Commission, the European Space Agency has undertaken the technical and management implementation of the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation in Satellite Navigation.

The Paris Agreement on Climate sets the international objective to keep climate warming well below two degrees, and "…to reach global peaking of greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible … and to undertake rapid reductions thereafter in accordance with best available science...to achieve a balance between anthropogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases in the second half of this century".

This extraordinary challenge requires dramatic improvements of current scientific capabilities to construct comprehensive GHG budgets with all natural and anthropogenic sources and sinks that drive changes in atmospheric concentrations, and track changes over time.

LANDMARK is a pan-European multi-actor consortium of 22 partner institutes from 14 EU countries plus Switzerland, China and Brazil. These include universities, applied research institutes, Chambers of Agriculture, an SME and the European Commission that will develop a coherent framework for soil management aimed at sustainable food production across Europe. The primary goal of OptimESM is to develop the next generation of ESMs, bringing together increased model resolution and process realism, and to deliver long-term climate projections that better support policy and societal needs, providing guidance on regional climate change at different levels of global warming, the risk of abrupt Earth system changes at these warming levels and the regional impacts arising from such events.

The RESCUE project investigates the potential response of the Earth system to implementing carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies, and designs new climate projection scenarios with representation of CDR portfolios.

The SEEDS project is co-funded by the European Commission and aims to boost the electrification of thermal systems in buildings through an integrated approach leveraging energy efficient renovation and smartification of HVAC systems.
