The European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2026 (EGU26) was held between 3-8 May in Vienna, Austria. The conference welcomed over 20 000 participants from 125 countries, while an additional over 2 000 attendees joined virtually from 107 countries worldwide. The event provided a dynamic platform for scientific exchange, collaboration, and the presentation of cutting-edge research addressing global environmental challenges.

Several CONCERTO partners actively contributed to this year's programme through a series of oral and poster presentations showcasing research closely aligned with the project's scientific objectives. Researchers from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), CMCC Foundation, and Imperial College London (ICL) presented their latest work on topics including high-resolution land use and land cover reconstruction, leaf area index modelling, machine learning applications for Earth system science, land surface boundary conditions, vegetation stress monitoring, biogenic volatile organic compound (BVOC) emissions, and ecosystem carbon exchange. Contributions included Amanda Duarte's oral presentation on a unified data-driven framework for high-resolution land surface boundary conditions, Marina Castaño's poster on global 1 km reconstruction of historical and future land use using machine learning, Amirpasha Mozaffari's poster exploring the rise of artificial intelligence in weather and climate information, Matteo Mastropierro's poster on improving BVOC parameterisations in CLM5 through model–observation comparisons and factorial simulations, Giulia Mengoli's oral presentation on predicting the spatial and seasonal dynamics of net ecosystem exchange using an eco-evolutionary optimality model, and Haoran Liu's oral presentation investigating vegetation stress from space through isoprene emissions and their relationship with El Niño.

Through their participation, CONCERTO partners engaged with the wider scientific community, exchanged knowledge with international experts, and strengthened opportunities for future collaboration across disciplines related to climate, ecosystems, and environmental research.

The EGU General Assembly continues to serve as a key meeting point for scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders working towards a better understanding of Earth system processes and sustainable solutions for environmental challenges.

The next edition of the conference, EGU27, will take place once again at the Austria Center Vienna (ACV) and online from 4–9 April 2027.
